Transport & Assembly
The transport of materials and assistance with assembly work are among HeliBernina's core activities. Indeed, many projects would not be feasible without the use of their helicopters – be it for the forestry industry, construction sites in mountainous regions, or major alpine events.
Cargo Transportation
A helicopter provides the perfect solution for the transport of bulky and heavy freight to even the highest-altitude regions. HeliBernina’s fleet have an under-slung load capacity of up to 1,200 kilograms, taking into account wind, temperature and altitude. For such missions, expertise, safety and perfect teamwork are fundamental requirements for success.
Assembly
Thanks to its manoeuvrability, the helicopter is also ideally suited for use in the construction of mountain railways, high-voltage pylons, radio masts, cable systems and slope stabilisation nets. Even though it is part of everyday flying, absolute precision and concentration are essential.
Mountain construction sites
Helicopters are indispensable on mountain construction sites. Concrete, gravel, sand, machinery, aggregates, steel and timber components are efficiently airlifted to even the most remote locations. And there are quite a few of them – not just here in the Engadin.
Supply
Thanks to the helicopter, most SAC huts and mountain inns are supplied with food for hungry and thirsty guests. Furthermore, helicopter support is relied upon to provide supplies at alpine sporting events such as the Engadin Ski Marathon or the Davos X-Trails.
Forestry
Helicopters are often indispensable for timber harvesting operations. On behalf of local authorities, forestry companies and private individuals, they transport round timber and timber for construction, cable winches and forestry equipment, and carry out complex avalanche protection installations with precision, safety and professionalism.
Specialist timber yard
Specialised tree felling refers to the removal of standing trees in residential areas or in inaccessible locations. These are challenging operations which our own flight operations staff and forestry specialists assess, prepare meticulously and carry out professionally, working together with the relevant forestry authorities and specialist staff from local forestry companies.
